As a tour guide or driver for Backbeat Tours, you get to work independently, entertaining folks who are on vacation and ready to have a good time. If you love meeting and entertaining new people and are looking for a fun, creative, part-time position, we have the job for you. We provide the training; you bring the fun, friendly attitude. Our regular positions are:
MUSICIAN GUIDE – Musician guides lead musical bus tours of Memphis. On the music tours, guides sing and play classic Memphis hits while leading a bus tour that tells the story of Memphis music. It’s a great way to get seen and heard around town while having a blast. Part-time during the day, 2 to 4 days per week, 2 to 5 hours per day. We offer a flexible schedule so you can supplement your income while pursuing your music career. To qualify as a musician guide, you must be a working musician who can sing and play guitar at a professional level. Qualified college students are welcome to apply.
GHOST/HISTORY GUIDE – Passionate about the paranormal? Fascinated by Memphis history? Put your interests to work. Our walking tour guides lead ghost and history tours of Memphis. Ghost tours run nightly. History tours run during the daytime. Part-time, 3 to 5 days/nights per week. Must be available most weekends. Background in history, the paranormal, performance, or teaching preferred. College students and retirees welcome.
BUS DRIVER/GUIDE – Drive a mid-size commercial bus through the streets of Memphis while experiencing the fun and creative world of tourism. Most driving is during the day; you’ll be home in time for dinner. As a driver for Backbeat Tours, you will be expected to lead some short tours on your own, so you should love talking to people and telling stories. Drivers must have a Class B CDL with Passenger Endorsement and at least 1 year of experience driving buses.
